About

The sri lanka photo collective is a non-for-profit initiative that aims to promote works by the students of the photography class of the one world college in Wathuregama (in south-west Sri Lanka). The class is part of the college’s vocational training course, giving students the opportunity to learn technical aspects of photography as well as the topics of production and post-production.

Part of the curriculum is a six-month-long internship with a professional photographer or a news media organisation. Workshops with guest lecturers from abroad enhance the skills of the students, fostering intercultural dialogue and the transfer of knowledge. Government-approved certificates are awarded after successfully completing the programme.

Over the years, a large archive of photographs captured by the students has been built. Ranging from landscapes and interiors to portraits and street photography, these images highlight the contemporary realities in Sri Lanka. It is from this archive that the jury of the sri lanka photo collective selects the best photographs for the portfolio. All proceeds of the sale go to the one world college.

All images are printed, mounted and framed by WhiteWall in Germany, the recipient of the TIPA Award 2023 for ‘Best Photo Lab Worldwide’.

With every acquisition of a photograph, you make a significant contribution towards the nurturing of promising young talent, the vital funding of the one world college, and the betterment of education in Sri Lanka.
