'Shadows in the water', 2018

Two hands that appear to float as a reflection in the water create a fascinating interplay of light and shadow. While one hand is open and the other is facing downwards, it reminds one of the various mudras (hand gestures) of Buddhist iconography. The negative effect of the mirroring draws clear contours of the hands in the upper part of the image, whereas closer to the lower edge, contours grow distorted. It is almost as if the shadows dissolve, indicating that all things in nature finally disintegrate — a telling symbol of the life cycle.
